Frequently Asked Questions

It is a challenging, non-technical mountaineering pass. The ascent involves walking on snow/ice slopes up to 45-50 degrees. The descent on the Hushe side is steeper and often requires rappelling or lowering on fixed ropes (approx. 100-150m). Excellent fitness, acclimatization, and confidence with basic mountaineering gear are essential.

Safety is our priority. If our lead guide determines the pass conditions are unsafe due to weather, snow levels, or avalanche risk, the group will return via the standard K2 Base Camp route down the Baltoro Glacier to Askole. No refunds are provided in this situation as costs are incurred regardless.

While extensive mountaineering experience isn't required, you MUST be comfortable and proficient using crampons, ice axe, harness, and basic rope techniques (e.g., clipping into fixed lines, basic self-arrest). Previous experience on snow/ice slopes is highly beneficial. We strongly recommend taking a basic mountaineering course or our pre-trek refresher.
